We met in 2016 while working at sister event production companies in San Diego, California. We immediately became friends, as we both shared a common passion for creating memorable events and a goal of one day starting our own event companies. When COVID-19 hit, and the event, tourism, and hospitality industries were paused, we were left wondering what the future held and if, just maybe, this was the right time to start thinking about venturing out on our own. While the country was on lockdown, we used the time to brainstorm ideas for the future, and SD Event Production and Celebration of Life Events was born!
In 2013, Dana lost a very dear friend, Raja. Raja lived his life with love and aloha, he knew how to see the best in others, and he touched the hearts of everyone he met. Raja’s death came suddenly and was a shock to everyone who knew and loved him, especially his family. As you can imagine, this was an incredibly difficult time for them, but they knew that Raja had a whole community of people who loved him and would want to have some kind of memorial service to remember him. In this difficult time, they turned to his friends, including Dana for help.
To best honor Raja’s loving and energetic spirit, Dana and his friends created a joyful celebration, filled with spreading love, sharing memories, playing in the ocean, and dancing!
We have both attended many funerals and memorial services of loved ones and friends, seeing families struggling to hold it together as they are forced to deal with their grief, while simultaneously planning an event. Celebration of Life Events was created to help ease this stress and help people during these challenging times.
